3 Ways To Increase Your Revenue Potential with Local Yokel Media

by: Elizabeth Harrington, on Jul 9, 2012 in Publisher Tips & Tricks

Local Yokel Media is focused on providing you with quality ads paying a premium rate for your available ad inventory.  We are here to support and bolster your direct advertising sales efforts by monetizing some or all of your remaining inventory.  To that end, I wanted to share a few tips on how you can optimize your revenue with us.

1) Enroll Multiple Ad Spaces

When you first enroll, we only ask you to register one ad space.  However, once you’ve been approved, you can register as many ad spaces as you like – the more ad spaces you enroll, the more you increase the value of each pageview on your website.  For example, one ad space on a page equals one impression: but 5 ad spaces (3 that are 300×250 in the right margin, one that is a 728×90 Leaderboard and one that is a 160×600 ad space on the left margin) equals FIVE impressions for every one pageview your site receives.  If you’d like to see samples of the IAB Standard ad units we accept, click here.

  • Log into the Localyokelmedia.com dashboard with your distinct user name and password (if you forgot them, please follow the “Forgot Password” prompts by the log in area)
  • Go to Sell Ad Space tab
  • Assign each new ad space to your respective site, choose ad size (300×250, 728×90 or 160×600), website name, the ad space name (best to name it by its position on the site for example, top leaderboard or lower right rectangle), assign the ad location, and generate the new code.
  • Cut and paste the new ad code into your site (or ad server) in the respective ad spaces (be sure to cut and paste before the </HTML> tag on your webpage.
  • Click DONE to accept ad space registration and proceed.

2) Enroll Additional Websites

If you publish more than one community blog or website, enroll them all to multiply your earnings!  Here’s how:

  • Log into the Localyokelmedia.com dashboard with your distinct user name and password (if you forgot them, please follow the “Forgot Password” prompts by the log in area)
  • To add additional websites, go to Enroll Website and enter website name, description, logo (not required), URL, average monthly impressions, summary and click DONE
  • Go to the Sell Ad Space tab
  • Assign each new ad space to your respective new site, choose ad size (300×250, 728×90 or 160×600), website name, the ad space name (best to name it by its position on the site for example, top leaderboard or lower right rectangle), assign the ad location, and generate the new code.
  • Go to Manage Ad Spaces and click on See Code
  • Cut and Paste the code into your ad space on your blog/site respective ad area (Please note – we only accept the following ad sizes — 300×250, 160×600 and 728×90).

3) Enroll Specific Town Sections as Their Own Websites

If your website contains specific community pages, i.e. a section for each of the towns in your readership, you can enroll each of those sections as a standalone website, allowing Local Yokel Media to offer even more targeted placement to advertisers and increasing the value of those impressions.

For example, Long Island Herald has a primary URL (www.LIHerald.com).  LIHerald however features 16 community news sections such as Baldwin, Long Island (http://liherald.com/baldwin/).  The Baldwin section qualifies as it’s own Website under the LIHerald account and each ad unit should be enrolled under it’s respective community.

If this is your model, here’s how you can do that:

  • Log into the Localyokelmedia.com dashboard with your distinct user name and password (if you forgot them, please follow the “Forgot Password” prompts by the log in area)
  • To add additional communities/cities or sister websites, go to Enroll Website tab and enter website name, description, logo (not required), URL, average monthly impressions, summary and click DONE
  • Go to the Sell Ad Space tab.

I hope these ideas and instructions were helpful and that you’ll consider implementing them soon!  If you have any questions, please feel free to post them below and I will answer them asap.
